Economic ministry expects ruble at 90-92 per USD in 2024–2026

MOSCOW, Oct 16 (PRIME) -- The Economic Development Ministry still expects the Russian ruble to stabilize at around 90–92 per U.S. dollar in 2024–2026, Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said on Monday during a session of the budget and tax committee of the parliament’s lower chamber State Duma.

“Taking into account the trade surplus growth this year and taking into account the approved measures, we expect a further stabilization of the ruble’s rate in 2024–2026. Given the changes in the structure of payments and capital outflow, we see balance at around 90–92 rubles per U.S. dollar,” he said.

The ministry also expects Russia’s trade surplus to reach 145 billion rubles this year, which is close to the average annual level in 2020–2021. It should continue rising in the medium term because export growth overshadows the increase of imports, Reshetnikov said.
